Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Paro → Welcome to Thimphu!
“Kuzuzangpo!” Your Bhutanese journey begins as you land at Paro Airport, greeted by your guide. After a scenic drive to Thimphu, take it easy to acclimatize. Stop by the Takin Preserve to meet Bhutan’s quirky national animal (think moose-meets-goat!). Settle into your hotel and enjoy your first taste of Bhutanese cuisine—maybe even a cup of suja (butter tea)!

Day 2: Thimphu – Culture & Traditions
Dive into Bhutan’s capital with:

  • Heritage Museum – Step into rural Bhutanese life through artifacts and stories.
  • Textile Museum – Marvel at intricate handwoven fabrics (perfect for souvenirs!).
  • Tashichho Dzong – The majestic fortress housing the King’s throne room.
  • Memorial Chorten – Join locals in spinning prayer wheels for blessings.
  • Weekend Farmers Market (Sat/Sun) – A riot of colors, smells, and friendly banter.
  • Simtokha Dzong – Bhutan’s oldest fortress, where history whispers from every stone.

Day 3: Thimphu → Punakha (Via Dochula Pass)
Wind through pine forests to Dochula Pass (3,100m), where 108 chortens stand guard over Himalayan panoramas. Then descend to the Punakha Valley:

  • Punakha Dzong – The “Palace of Great Happiness,” glowing at the river confluence.

Day 4: Punakha → Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley)

Day 7: The Legendary Tiger’s Nest Hike
The highlight! Trek to Taktsang Monastery, clinging to a cliff at 3,120m. Stop at the cafeteria viewpoint for that iconic photo, then explore the sacred caves where Guru Rinpoche meditated. Afterward:

  • Kyichu Lhakhang – One of Bhutan’s oldest temples, radiating serenity.
  • Hot Stone Bath – Soak those muscles in a traditional farmhouse—pure bliss!

Day 8: Paro → Farewell, Bhutan!
